Ideas for the summer.

Summer holidays are great, but they can get a bit boring. Here are a few HP based ideas to gey your summer started with a swing.
  • We're all kids at heart, so what better way to spend a day playing Harry Potter? It's great fun, and i try to fit in at least one or two entirely HP days in my summer. The following are ideas for lessons, quidditch etc, hope you find them useful!
  • Quidditch: Has your brother or sister got a toy broom left over from Halloween? If so, write 'Firebolt' on the side in gold marker, and let your imagination take you to the Quidditch Pitch! For the balls: use a scrunched up roll of parchment (hey, i'm in character) and spray paint it gold. For bludgers: i usually find tennis balls (but rounders/cricket balls are best) painted black work great. And for the Quaffle, a shiny red ball from a toy shop is good. For the goalposts i use fishing nets (available from seaside towns) elevated on flowerpots and stuck in the holes in the bottom, then seal the hole inside the pot with blu-tack, so the stick of the net doesn't drop through. Now go flying!
  • For potions: take a peek in the spice cupboard at home, i cleaned ours out recently, and had a great afternoon getting yelled at by an imaginary Snape! some good stuffto use is: bay leaves, bicarb of soda, herbs, fizzy drinks, salt, off food, garden stuff, bath crystals, and anything that will go in the cauldron! (or painted bucket)
  • Care of Magical creatures: buy fantastic beasts and where to find them, the write essays and do studys on some of the creatures in there. (I find a new set of multicoloured biros makes this a lot more fun)
  • Charms: get a piece of wood and practice those incantations! (A good prop is feathers and fans)
  • Defence Against the dark arts: Go and look in all the dark spaces of your home, and try to capture a Boggart! Remember 'riddikulus' and your imagination will do the rest!
  • Astromony: lean out of your bedroom window late at night and study the stars, but please don't fall out!
  • Divination: nick your Grandma's tea set and interpret those manky tea leaves!
  • Transfiguration: line up a number of similar things: needles&matchsticks, toy rabbits&slippers, then say an incantation, and chuck one of the things away!

That's a pretty basic lot of  stuff to be going on with, but if you have any ideas, please let us know! We'd love to hear from you!
